Heckfield Place, a magnificent 18th century country house resting in 65 acres of Georgian parkland, lies just to the east of the Wellington Monument in Heckfield, Hampshire.It was the home of Charles Shaw-Lefevre, the longest serving speaker of the House of Commons, who later became Lord Eversley. Lord Eversley died in 1888, at the time Father of the House of Lords. Heckfield Place later became home to Colonel Horace Walpole and his family.
