Why bookers choose Halifax Hall Hotel
A boutique hotel with real character
Halifax Hall offers a softer, more personal alternative to a large conference centre or city hotel. Its Victorian architecture, original 19th-century features and landscaped setting give meetings and celebrations a calm, distinctive backdrop.
Residential events in one place
With 38 en-suite bedrooms on site and an adjacent sister hotel for overflow, Halifax Hall is well suited to overnight conferences, senior team retreats, wedding parties and events where guests need to stay together. Exclusive use is available, allowing bookers to take over the hotel, event spaces and gardens.
Gardens that are part of the event experience
The landscaped gardens are actively used for outdoor elements, including discussion groups, al fresco lunches, barbecues and drinks receptions on the lawn. A pond and water feature, sun terrace, barbecue area, wood-fired pizza oven and garden games make the outdoor space genuinely usable, especially for away days, summer events and weddings.
Historic details that feel memorable
The Library contains two antique bookcases purchased from the 1936 auction of the RMS Olympic, sister ship to the Titanic. It is a small but distinctive detail that gives the space a stronger sense of story than a standard meeting room.
University of Sheffield hospitality, with hotel warmth
Halifax Hall is operated by WithUS, the hospitality and events arm of the University of Sheffield. Bookers get the benefits of an experienced institutional events team alongside the feel of a boutique hotel.
Spaces
Dining Room
The largest and most flexible indoor event space at Halifax Hall.
The Dining Room is the main event space at Halifax Hall, with high ceilings, large windows and views onto the terrace and landscaped gardens. It adjoins the Library through two sets of double doors, making the two spaces useful for events that need a main room and breakout, reception or catering area.
WiFi and natural daylight are available. AV, presentation screens, microphones, hybrid meeting setup and technical support should be confirmed with the venue.
Library
A characterful adjoining space with historic RMS Olympic bookcases.
The Library sits next to the Dining Room and is joined to it by two sets of double doors. It contains two antique bookcases purchased from the 1936 auction of the RMS Olympic, giving the room a distinctive historic feature and making it a strong choice for bookers who want character rather than a plain meeting room. For weddings it works well for the first dance and evening celebrations.
WiFi and natural daylight are available. AV, screen setup and presentation equipment should be confirmed with the venue.
Ennis Room
A bright, intimate room overlooking the gardens.
The Ennis Room is named after Sheffield Olympic gold medallist and University of Sheffield alumna Jessica Ennis-Hill. It has large floor-to-ceiling sash windows and garden views, making it a good choice for smaller conferences, civil ceremonies and events where natural light is important.
WiFi and natural daylight are available. AV, screen setup and presentation equipment should be confirmed with the venue.
Music Room
An intimate room with french doors onto the terrace and gardens.
The Music Room once housed a grand piano. Today it is an intimate space with floor-to-ceiling windows and french doors leading out to the terrace and gardens, which makes it well suited to civil ceremonies and to drinks receptions in the summer months.
WiFi and natural daylight are available. AV and presentation requirements should be confirmed with the venue.
Warden's Study
An intimate room for small meetings and private dining.
The Warden's Study is located close to the Ennis Room and Library, near the hotel's Victorian entrance. Furnished with antique bookcases and period furniture, it is best suited to small, focused meetings and private dining rather than larger event formats.
WiFi is available. AV and presentation requirements should be confirmed with the venue.
Gardens
Landscaped outdoor space for receptions, lunches and informal event moments.
The gardens surround the Victorian mansion and include mature trees, a pond and water feature, a sun terrace and a barbecue area. They are used for outdoor ceremonies, discussion groups, drinks receptions, barbecues, al fresco lunches, garden games and wedding photography. A wood-fired pizza oven is available for events. The gardens add a relaxed, scenic element to conferences, away days, summer events and weddings.
Outdoor event arrangements, weather plans, power access, furniture, bar service and capacity should be confirmed with the venue.
