Wheelchair Badminton Club triumphs ahead of Four Nations Disabled Badminton Championships at Stoke Mandeville

Phoenix Wheelchair Badminton Club struck gold at the Scottish leg of the Four Nations Championships in Edinburgh this month, as the team prepare for the English stage of the Four Nations Disabled Badminton Championship due to be held at Stoke Mandeville Stadium, Aylesbury in May. Supported by Harpers Fitness at Stoke Mandeville Stadium, WheelPower and Bucks 2012; the Disabled Badminton Championships will see some of the best players in the sport battle it out to win gold. The Phoenix players are based at Stoke Mandeville Stadium and use their state of the art facilities to train. Martin Rooke and Denny Vettom competed in Scotland on behalf of Phoenix Wheelchair Badminton Club and enjoyed some well deserved success. Martin participated in Wheelchair Class 3 and won a gold medal in the singles competition, defeating David Crossman of Devon Racqueteers. Denny won silver in the singles Wheelchair Class 2 and also took home gold in both the men’s and mixed doubles.
