Cambridge opens its doors for events

A series of events to highlight the unique range of venues and facilities on offer in Cambridge will continue during May, specifically focusing on Queen’s College, the Pitt Building and St John’s College. ‘Opendoors’ is being organised by Conference Cambridge, the official, free venue-finding services for The University of Cambridge, as part of its tenth anniversary celebrations. St John’s is the venue for the next evening event in the series on 8 May, when the focus will be on the suitability of Cambridge as a location for hosting international events. The occasion will include a tour of St John’s, an International Meetings Question Time session followed by a drinks reception and dinner in the Wordsworth Room. Meanwhile, on 28 May, the Opendoors will feature two of the University’s most prestigious venues The Pitt Building and Queen’s College. Attendees at the afternoon event, will have the opportunity to view both venues’ meeting facilities, enjoy a drinks reception with canapés in the famous Old Hall at Queen’s College and attend a seminar titled The Event Manager and The Law, in which event guru Richard John will take a look at just some of the areas where event mangers should be careful when planning events, including copyright, data protection, lotteries and competitions, contracts, licenses, employment law, insurance, volunteers, health and safety, risk management and disabled access. “We are delighted to be able to offer event organisers the chance to look inside some of our unique venues and to show them what an amazing range of facilities we can provide,” said Kelly Vickers, Conference Cambridge’s office manager.
