ACC Liverpool underlines UK events excellence at Lib Dem Conference

ACC Liverpool has been using this week’s Liberal Democrats Party Conference to promote the UK meetings and events industry in front of key government officials. Working alongside the Britain for Events 2010 initiative the team has been canvassing MPs at the conference to put their name to support the campaign and learn more about the economic impact of events. “We took the initiative during last week’s Liberal Democrat conference held at ACC Liverpool to promote the BVEP manifesto to such an influential audience. We recognise the value of business tourism to local economies and wherever possible we will strive to support the initiative. We intend to continue promoting the Manifesto at both the Labour and Conservative Party Conferences at which we are exhibiting alongside our partners Liverpool City Council in the next two weeks.” ACC Liverpool is the first supporter to use a party political conference as a tool to promote the events industry; other destinations will follow suit with the forthcoming Labour (Manchester 26-30 September) and Conservative (Birmingham, 3rd – 6th October) party conferences taking place in the coming weeks. “This is a big few weeks for the meetings and events industry,” comments Simon Mills, Britain for Events 2010 campaign coordinator and Head of Business Visits and Events & Partner Marketing, VisitBritain. “The party political conferences not only underline how events can dominate the national media agenda, they also create excellent showcase opportunities for the destinations involved and their events industries.”
