Manor By The Lake
Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, GL51 6PN
Set in 7 acres of its own beautiful gardens and flanked by a picturesque private lake, Manor By The Lake is an outstanding exclusive-use venue steeped in history and classical style. The former home of Sir George Dowty has been restored to its 1858 status, with some of the most elegant wooden carving and ornamental décor in the south-west of England.
The broad gravel driveway leads to the large Manor House with its elegant multi-arched entrance. Walk through the elaborate oak door and your breath will be taken away by the style of the beautifully proportioned, galleried Main Hall with chandeliers and fine décor which lead to the 4 function rooms inside. The Marguerite Library will take you to another era when Victorian splendor was the order of the day while the other rooms combine period style and stunning decorated high ceilings with very flexible space and wonderful views over the gardens.
The grand staircase with its unique statuettes winds its way up to 12 opulent rooms and suites which will stop you in your tracks. All with views to the gardens each room has been decorated with its own theme, from Fairytale to American Colonial, you choose.
Hidden gems are rarely as unique as the Manor’s own Rock Bar. Tucked away behind a secret doorway, it opens out into an amazing vaulted oak paneled room lit on one side by a grand mullioned window and from above from a Victorian skylight. The room moves from leather sofas, oak floors, through rock memorabilia, past the bar into a flamboyant den with table football, video screen, vintage jukebox and pool table.
The crowning glory of the Manor has to be the West Wing Ballroom which can take 200 guests for dinner or 250 seated for conference events. With our own in-house award-winning chefs and full banqueting team your event is sure to go with a swing. Add to this a whisky and wine bar, full stage and doors opening to the lake on one side and a beautiful patio on the other and you have a very desirable venue which can take any number of different occasions from large weddings to the most blue-chip of corporate events.
